Am currently running with truvativ holzfeller dh bar - it's a good bar and relatively light, would I gain anything by replacing it with a Easton EC70 CNT DH bar - is the carbon bar much lighter and would it be as strong? - want to lighten bike as it's a 37lb beast and make it a tad more chuckable but don't want to compromise the strength of the componentry.
I remember looking into that last year and the carbon DH bar wasn't much lighter than a regular EA70. I went for the EA70 for peace of mind. I suspect there are bigger weight saving to made elsewhere on a 37lb bike other than your bars. What kinda bike, what wheels/tyres etc.?
Dunno what your Truvativ weighs but there's 40g of a difference between the two Eastons. More than I thouht but not a lot in the grand scheme of things.
If it were an XC bike I'd say do it - not for the weight saving but comfort as a carbon bar eliminates a huge amount of trail buzz. For FR/DH I don't think this is such an issue.
Frame and wheels are burly, I like the heft and cofidence inspiring solidity and the punishment they can withstand , alloy bars are staying as carbon doesn't seem to have much of a benefit, seatpost is a telescopic titec job - could switch to a lighter lay back thomson, and a ti railed sdg bel air saddle to shave a few grams, reducing rolling resistance is probably my best bet to get a faster rolling lighter feel (current tryes Nevegal 2.35) - change of tyre , tubless conversion maybe?
Tyres... I've got a single ply Minion up front and a semi slick Highroller on the back, it's really fast rolling but still grips like DH rubber. I'll probably swap to a regular Highroller, for the Winter, soon. As for the rest of the bike I'd just replace parts with lighter stuff as it wears out.
Can understand why, Norco is great on the descents, jumps n drops but a bitch to climb with.. bought it because would have broken a stumpy or trek offering..
My Remedy came with Nevegals and I was a bit worried I'd bought a inherently slow bike.....stuck some XC tyres on and it shifts, almost kept up with a roady. I luvs the grip but on the flat they seem incredibly draggy.
Never tried those. I put on my old schwalbe smart sams but I would not recommend them for off road, just v fast for a knobbly on road. And hilarious in gloopy mud

37lbs is a bloody good weight for a DH bike!! My Glory is 45 1/2 lbs after a bit of a diet
I'm not a fan of carbon bars, I've seen a few people not enjoying themselves as a result of them snapping.
