I've just been let down by a cycle shop. I bought and paid for a Spesh rockhopper 08 sub £500. They are offering me a Trek 6500 08 model for same money.
Should I go for it ? and reasons please.
I 've already spent a considerable amount of time researching the spesh and it was the one to go for. The trouble is I can't get the spesh anywhere else for the same money.
Quick responses glady receive as I want to get the order ASAP.
TBH it's your call, ride each of them and choose the bike which rides the best and is the comfiest, don't buy a bike because it's a bargain, no point in getting Ferrari for Fiesta money if you can't fit in the drivers seat...
There wasn't a v-brake 6500 for 08, so it must be disc. It has the Tora Air Assist fork and has Shimano hubs, so on paper, it's a better bike. Different geometry though, higher front end and longer top tube. Try it.
If they let you pay for a bike they couldn't get, they don't sound like the most reliable types. Or maybe they sold out faster than expected. Obviously not knowing the full story clouds judgement a little.
Try it and then decide. Theoretically it's an upgrade, but it's no good if you don't like it.
you guys are bril. But I again the retailers' stock system was up sh**t creek - so in the end they gave me the spech rockhopper comp disc 09 ... for the same money ... have I been done ?
