Thanks Mike, and thank you for your time and your advice last year. I finally managed to put it to use and enjoy the whole experience of the SDD.

I owe a huge thank you to the many people who have offered me encouragement and support for this, specially those who cheered me on on the day. It turned a truly memorable day for me into a very special one indeed.

I still haven't stopped smiling.

Well done, Rob, and a privilege to shake your hand at the finish! Fab final effort, to get in under 20 hours.

Well done Rob, welcome to the club.  I felt the scorching heat on my Double ride last week where it was even hotter for you.  It sounds like Butser was a killer at the end, for me Butser was covered in thick mist with very low visibility. You certainly seem to have enjoyed it, with the route covering some of the best tracks in the South East, it definitely is a great ride. Richard

Still smiling today!

Thanks for the kind words guys, I'm now looking forward to a long hot sun filled summer of riding (with a lot more water to drink than my Alpine effort afforded!). Next up is TwentyFour12 with the stylishly clad Morvélo team, swiftly followed by my 24solo debut at SITS and then the race I'm looking forward to most - the BrightonBigDog, which was the most enjoyable course of 2008 and this year's course has even more great trails.

I'll have an eye on the weather and the calendar and hope to get out for another go at this with the knowledge and experience I gained filed away to be used again (and hopefully with less disturbance to my progress than the two punctures, three sun cream application stops and the snapped chain from this ride).

I still can't believe how much I enjoyed my experience and wouldn't trade a single moment of it for the world.
