I thought we were in the midst of a 3 day strike but I've seen the local postie delivering mail this morning as well as ours own.

I ordered from Wiggle yesterday afternoon, the package was delivered today. closer inspection reveals they used citylink not the royal mail.

Close inspection of the strike action will tell you that Posties have not been on strike, its modernisation of sorting offices thats the issue. The only way you could modernise a Postie would be to give him a segway or something similiar.

Mind maybe they want a better mode of transport other than legs as they are all having tomorrow off, a bit like the majority of the british workforce.

This is complete giberish.  One of the main things the Union don't like is that a computer program is being used to define the routes taken by postmen and set a target for how long it should take based on a given walking speed.

Postmen will be striking tomorrow.

Pressume you are reffering to what you are about to write.

As for the union not liking it Its the Posties who are the union and they voted to strike, their jobs their choice.

I wonder if the computer takes into account the increase in speed if the postie is chased by a customers dog?

The management are not happy with the 2.4 MPH routes are currently set at, they want to up it to 4 MPH. Using a PC to decide how to "Optimise" the route. Why don't the fat cats try it and set the pace themselves, maybe justify their bonus.

Edit: I'm leaving for Spain now so won't be able to continue this argument further. In light of this revelation I have decided that I have won.  So NER!
