It turns out Paul’s other leg is 7cm sorter than the bad knee-leg. One ankle is bent. The knee on the bad knee-leg is having to soak up and compensate for the 7 cm shortfall and the ankle, plus his ligaments and tendons (?) are short all over (I took a phone call at this juncture in the story, so missed some details!) .
He’s going back on Friday for some dedicated exercises and a footbed (?) for his shoes.
So, the moral of the story, simply because you have a dodgy knee, or clicky hip or can’t touch your toes, or walk like Donald Duck on one side, it might not actually be the things you had at first maybe assumed!
Go, spend £36, and get someone who really knows his onions and let them take a look and help you move forward from your injuries!
The point being that if you have a knee (for example) that's causing some pain walking down steps, it might reveal a whole host of actual problems, and not what you might had at first imagined.
Fancy not having any clue that one leg was a full 7cm shorter than the other!?
His hips are OK and likewise his back. 50 years and not knowing.
Hope he'll be back in the saddle by the end of the year.
Are you sure it's not a wind up Tim? 7cm is best part of 3" so you'd presume his trousers were a bit misfitting if nowt else.
I mentioned this to my bro-in-law who's a fitness/pilates instructor & trainer as he specialises in skeletal alignment. He thought it would be a miracle if there were no associated problems, particularly in the lower back, due to his frame compensating for such a mismatch.
I don't think the difference in Johnny Herberts legs is that much after his F3000 smash at Brands & it's quite noticable on him even just standing.
