Why is it that no matter what I do my Revelation 426 Air U-turn forks never extend to the full travel 130 mm mark on the stanchion, they always sit at 115mm, unless I hold the wheel down and pull them up. Is this right or should they extend to the full travel mark when unweighted ? They've been like this from when I got them new a couple of months ago.
There also seems to be a tiny amount of oil escaping from the the top cap on the right stanchion when I compress the fork. Is this right ?
When unweighted the forks should be able to extend to their full amount of travel. Assuming you have the U-Turn set to maximum travel, this should be 130mm. I gather that for some forks its not unheard of to be unable to get maximum travel, but when this happens its only by a small amount; 15mm (which I think should be two whole turns of the U-Turn knob) seems like a big difference. Personally, I would be concerned.
I have this same problem with my Reba Airs - they do not extenf fully, but it is only a small amount that they seem to be missing. Again, if I pull them down they extend out.
I've had the odd problem with my Revelations with them occassionally not extending to the full 130mm. The trick is, to deflate them (remove all air from both chambers) and then twiddle the u-turn knob, you should get them to the extremes at each end of thier travel. If you can't do this then there is a problem with the iternals and they may need a service. If they are fine pump starting with the positive chamber and then the negative. Some people recommend putting slightly less air in the negative chamber too.
