My hope head doctor which fitted a treat in my old rock shox is a little too big to squeeze into the new foxes i'm putting on presumably the inner wall is thicker. any suggestions should I just accept I've got a shiny hope top cap and use a SFN and bin the gubbins to the part box?
Its fate telling you to get rid of the pile o shite that is known as the head doctor. I run my forks like you suggested. Kepp the shiney top cap and use a sfn
Headlocks are fine for a DH/FR bike but I wouldn't have one on my XC bike. It's a huge steel bolt. I dont even have an Azonic one on my DH bike for that reason, try the DLR one if you're going down that route, it weighs next to nothing.

Nay they're brilliant in my eyes...but then again I fit SFN with a piece of tube and a hammer so my results are often less than square...the HD just took away any of those problems in one fell swoop.
Mine kept slipping in the steerer. So I cut some lines/grooves/notches in it with a hacksaw and I've never had to touch the thing since, it's been in there for years now.
new Fox's hey, hmmm what happened to Rigid is great and it's staying that way
Sure the Head Doctor you've removed is at it's smallest, strip it back to it's bits and reassemble it, I've used them for 36's to setup and had Van's with them in so strange.
Abit of a lip on the Steerer tube from the cutting maybe ??
It's fiddly, but if you change forks alot like I was, them it beats fiddling with SFN's so I'll be keeping mine.
Mmm. just looked at a top cap against the uncut end of a Rev's steerer & an F100's - the cap sits flush on the Rev one as the 'proud' bit of the cap fits inside but not on the F100.
Haven't got a scientific way of measuring them but the Fox steerer clearly has thicker walls than the RS one.
Same happened with my rigid forks they had mammoth side walls not a chance they were going in the SFN was almost double over...it just look like this might just go but I'm not going to hammer it in just for the sake of it when the SFN will do just seems a bit of waste leaving the hope bits out
