Really? Are they? Shame they go wrong far too often, weigh a lot, aren't that cheap, and you've got the joyous feeling of waiting months to get ripped off over spares!
We've got 2 Ksyrium wheels in at the moment, both waiting for broken spokes, Chicken dropped Mavic about 2 months ago, Mavic UK still aren't sorted, so until that happens people's £700 wheels are expensive paperweights!
Of all the things Mavic wheels are, superb is not one of them!
Pedalon are great. I've always serviced my own Crossmax's and they are great. Admittedly I had 6 months of frustration trying to work out that the free hub was shot after 18 months of non servicing, but changing it was a doddle..
Get a metal Mavic spoke key if changing spokes as the one they supply with the wheel is crap.
Well still no luck with the spokes. However I've taken the plunge and swapped the missues back wheel onto mine. It fits nicely. The gears are indexed ok and it runs smooth. I won't be taking it off road, just in case, but it'll do for now to get to work and back. I've no rear brake so I'll just have to be careful
I was under the impression that Mavic dropped Chicken , not the other way round , and that mavic were going to distribute direct . FWIW I think their wheels are pretty good but the service is downright appaling .
