Was originally looking at a 2009 FSR XC Pro for the GF but local shop (who I trust) said the 08 Stumpy FSR Elite would be a better bet (both priced at 1399).

I'm assuming (dangerous?) that the Stumpy will be slightly lighter (size Small) which is an important consideration. Fox fork and better frame also handy. Is this a no-brainer?

Would be interested in your opinions. In particular - any other areas where either bike is significantly better / worse than the other?

Will be used for general XC.

The Stumpy frame is better quality & lighter than the new FSR and I believe that the overall bike weight is about a pound less (26ish vs. 27ish).

My money would certainly be going on the Stumpy!
