weight was also a factor in choosing those, looked at the Apples but they worked out at just over a pound heavier, besides, i didn't fancy the idea of plodding around with anything 2" and above either coz, don't forget, i'm used to riding the road on tyres less than an inch so the 1.5's are wide enough
used to 2.3's only, so 2.0's sound like a okay compromise on the hybrid to me, stop any long distance vibration elbow issues and protect the cheap rims, £17 a pop so bareable.
And a 28-11 7speed cassette, dunno and 15 maybe at the moment, rapidly run out.
And a cheap WTB seat, this ones too wide and needs a love channel. ( should have 1 of them somewhere though )
There supposed to be super puncture resistant too, which apeals to me, if there abit slower thats fine better training!!
i wouldn't count on the puncture resistance too highly. my conti GPX's have a vectran (kevlar type) belt but it's only there to reduce punctures from cuts. thorns, nails and other pointy objects will penetrate.
the comfort level is suprisingly good, only suffer on badly cut up stony surfaces. the BA's should soak that up though.
I'm running Slime tubes aswell, well will be so both combined will give me a very low odds on a puncture and also greater rotational mass so once upto speed help the bike stay there, like I like on the MTB so sweet
At the moment I'm just riding for fun. The last few weeks have had about one olong road ride and two short singlespeed mtb rides (about 20miles). I've also started running again. But I am not pushing myself hard as I want to race next year and everyone says that you should be just building base and not doing intensity stuff at this point, otherwise you burn out!
4-5 times a week, 15-35 miles mixture of wiltshire/Avon/Glos/somerset cycle routes & bridleways, Ridgeway, Trail centres @ weekends Cwm carn, Afan, Uk Bike park
I put the slime strips in my 2.3 Super Motos dyl, seems to have done the trick for round here (so much glass on the road). Plus whenever I follow someone on skinny tyres they seem to have to go round the bits I can just ride over
Tekk, hybrid is a Min Hassle maintenance requirement, so Slime and puncture restistant tyres mean I can get away with 20mile quick rides without lugging a rucksack or pump or anything
Unlike the FS which seems to always require 2hours of work for every 1hour ridden and I don't even clean it!! But thats the MUD factor!!
Still plan to ride the FSer for XC 2.5 times per week average, adding 2 average 30mile road rides or even just long way to the gym twice per week, should help!
Took myself off to the cinema, and slept 9hrs and then 3hrs at lunch time. I'm feeling a great deal better, but getting ready for a busy 36-40 hrs.
Will do this again mid week too, regrdless of whether I feel I need it or not. No riding on the horizon as I'm tired and that won't help in the short term.
