Think I'm getting my entry as my Birthday present...whoop!

I'd quite like to, enjoyed the first one last year. Depends a bit on small children and stuff, though.

Last years was brilliant fun even on a broken rigid bike, completely missed this years summer one, so looks like a drab December to have another go.

I can't see the point in finding out how slow you actually are.

There's always someone slower ...... well, almost always!

I've done the past two and had a blast but it would be a helluva long drive home to Glasgow in the dark. So for that reason, I'm out!

So just like any race/event then!

Just a bit of fun, and with freebies and a jovial atmosphere...the more I ride the more I want to race...I'm currently eying up a Kuwahara bike and taking it back to where it all began for me BMX racing...now that would be a painful shot to the ego!

Might have to see if I can make arrangements. Need to improve on my 28th place

I can only improve on last year!

....oh no I can actually do one worse than last year

Twenty people didn't complete all the sections, so you beat all them too

DNF's don't count as places in my defence, I was riding a fully rigid bike and as a result of that did blow out the front twice...trying to get some comfort from lower pressures!

I shall be riding a proper bike this time...oh well apart from having 17 less gears than usual ...no point making it easy on yourself right?

DNF's don't count as places

They jolly well do, counting them got me in the top third

I think this year I'll be doing a lot better...I'm just building my old bike into a race bike now I've got the on-one for general riding...whoop back to XTR gears pace carbon 40's mavic cross wheels...actually I think I'll not take that one...we all need excuses right?

I still maintain that, you can only judge yourself against those that finished
(which for me last year was second from last )

Those that didn't finish didn't finish for a reason, though. Either they crashed, in which case you were more skilled or careful or something. Or they had mechanicals, in which case you were better prepared. Or they got tired, in which case you were fitter. Whichever way you look at it, you beat those people

As for excuses, I'd have done loads better if the timing on Windy Ridge hadn't failed so epically that it had to be ignored in the results, I KILLED that section.

Possibly.

I performed so badly on the last one that the whole day is striken from the Imperial Records.  I must remember not to take the 43lb no lockout freeride bike next time!

Yeah I had to do sections again...oh and my timing chip dropped off between the windy ridge and the energy section so I had to go back and try and find it...down at the energy entrance I spoke to someone about my dilema and they had it in their pocket!

All in all 2008 Mash Up was an epic fail...and I didn't even get a prize for being the only one to ride a rigid!

I agree with your DNF points, but still I only judge myself against those that completed a race
