I would gladly use the off button for xfactor but that's assuming I watch it. Why bother, when it's mentioned on the radio, in the metro, on the sunday papers, on the tv, on the hotmail welcome page, in the fucking canteen. I don't want to know that simon cowell is pigging out on angel delight due to worry over 2 twatty twins but somehow I do

"the metro" I asume if you choose to read such dross you woud want to know such things.

What's going on in Afghanistan is also on the TV, on the papers etc etc, but I manage to avoid hearing about it.
Yeah I see your point - that's equally trivial
 Exactly.

Jedward, I'd heard the name mentioned. Then revelations I turned the telly on this morning and found out that its a group, I thought it was a bloke called Jed Ward

One of the reasons that pointless gimps have their 'profile' blown up, and 'discussed' is that we are basically overwhelmed by media in all forms. In the past there was 30mins of news at 6pm / 9pm etc - on two channels and that was it. Now it's on 24/7 in numerous sources and this is before we even consider the net. To fill this time up requires content, and in general the average viewer is thick as pigshit or treated as such - ever seen breakfast on GMTV? jesus fcuking wept - so gets a heavy dose of 'news' for the masses, as dictated by the programme controllers. This along with the fact that magazine makers and the like seem to assume that we care about these self centred narcissist fame grabbing tw*ts, means we are subjected to this drivel.

I think one of the major problems with music at the moment is the total lack of live music venues. There has always been manufactured media hyped music, that was basically what motown was all about. but there was also always a live music scene with groups coming through and building up a following also. The latter seems to have died its death now, iirc at some point in the early 90's the cost of a live music license went up massively. The music industry also seems intent on self destruction, I think overpricing for has been the main driver for piracy, and for the past 5 years or so they have been forcing workplaces etc, to have a music license if they have a radio playing while people work. They are destroying legal access to music and will only have themselves to blame when they can no longer make money out of it.
