Well Conti Mountain Kings to be excact Thinking of buying some as I'm close to wearing oout my much loved Roll X Race tyres [6 set ] Whats the crack any good ? what compounds, wire bead or kevlar, TPI etc ? Theres a few folk on here that use them what do you think of them ? I did try some Explorers once but junked em as I couldnt stand the vibrations you got at speeds over 20 on hard pack / tarmac.

 I like them, some folk hate them. From my studies people who run higher pressures like them and those who believe anything more than 20PSI is the devils work hate them.

 I don't know what i would do without my front Protection.
I use a speed king on the rear, for little reason other than i've got a pile of 'em under my bed.
I like them, but they're not insanely grippy sideways.

hi i ran a pair for a few months up to a couple of weeks ago , just the cheapo wire bead ones found them good on all terrain in all weather

 I use the "made in Germany" supersonics tubeless at 2-2.5bar. They work very well on soft surfaces and not quite so well on rocky stuff. They feel a lot like supersonic Explorers but have bit more volume and are more supple. Billy's suggestion of the Vapour/Gravity is quite a good one if you are often on rocky or hard surfaces.

37psi is a good pressure john.
And yeah Devon riding is mostly pretty hard/rocky maybe that's why I get on with the speedy rolling vapors. It's pretty amazing freewheeling on Vapors at just how fast you overtake people freewheeling on soft high rollers

Well I've bought some new rubber, a pair of Mountain Kings which will probably go on my spesh and a Specialized Adrenaline Pro D2 for the front of the hardtail and a maxxis High roller or Swamp Thing for the rear.

 The vapour will kill you if you ever ride on wooden obstacles in the wet. The newer Conti tyres, mountain king, rain king, rubber queen etc. are a different rubber compound that grips very well. The side walls on the conti's I have are a little thin to resist cutting on sharp rocks (The rubber queen on the back of my trials bike has a slit in the wall and that barely goes off road at all, mostly street and round rocks). Also the sizing on Conti tyres is a bit weird - the 2.4" Rubber queen I have is much bigger than the 2.5" Minion it replaced. In the 2.1" tyre size though Maxxis tyres seem to be slightly bigger... I'd get the Maxxis Advantage for general use - they grip on pretty much everything but deep mud, can be run tubeless with sealant provided you leave them inflated with a tube for a couple of hours to get them to the right shape before trying to seat them tubeless. I've run mine with and without tubes, for XC, road spins, holidays in the Alps etc., and they work well for all of it.
