I have just bought myself some Salsa skewers and the problem is no more present.

I recommend those of you who had the same problem ('Wheel Fallout' thread) do the same.

The leverage generated from the longer levers is enough to hold any hub in there, regardless of whether or not the dropouts are of a hard alloy (like the mech hangar on my Stumpjumper).

They look fairly nice as well.

Or you could just get some shimano ones.

My Hope skewers have been fine though.

Yeah, you do. Salsa stuff is nice, but it's stupidly expensive, and Shimano skewers work just as well. I like X-lite skewers (in steel, obviously), myself, for extra pimp value, which is always good.

People have always talked about being able to pull out wheels clamped with X-Lite skewers with their own strength... ...you have safety tabs, yeah?

Salsa skewers have very long levers which curve with the hand. They clamp hard as fcuk.

Yeah, I've put salsa qrs on my FSR. The skewers are longer than most so work well with the extra large litigation tabs on my Fox Forx.

Sorry to spoil your SS fun. I had problems with Hope skewers. LBS put me straight. You need to grease the Brass dished out washer thingy, you get more leverage and they don't come loose. (anymore). There. You can resume SS lusting.

I have to say I've had a few problems with them, but never when I've put the wheel in myself - think the dropouts make you think the rear wheel is in when it isnt......

had my rear wheel fall out twice in one ride when using my syncros skewers (never a problem on other bikes) but the Hope ones seem to do a pretty good job (although I did manage to bend a Ti one tho :-( )
