i bought an unkown bike frame at the bike show.

now ive come to building it i havent worked on bikes for a few years and i intend to stick 03 LX BB and Cranks on it.

im assuming the BB shell is 68 as most nikes are.

but its the axle length im confused over. what will i need do u reakon? 113 or 118?

You can measure the BB shell. If it's the new LX cranks with the hollow bolts you need an ES51 (not 50) - they're a bit different. Length should be 113 if it's a 68 shell.

you sure aboutneeding an es51 not 50?

for the 2003 xt, the es70 works fine, only difference being that the es71 has a coating inside the bb axle to stop the water causing problems. The see thru axle is a daft idea really.

Sorry, my mistake - what I meant to say is, '03 LX needs a longer axle, either 121 or 126. Probably 121 for a 68mm shell. So you can't just pull an old crank off and slam and LX on because it hits the frame...

And I don't think you can get a 121mm ES50 so it's sort of right ;-)
