best bet is to go down to nirvana bikes in westcott just down the road and either buy their maps or go on one of their rides. Youll get to meet loads of other mtbers down there

Yup, Nirvana Bikes is the way forward. Alternatively, head from Dorking towards Coldharbour and Leith Hill. Once on the Hill, just follow your nose...

Thanks for the details - I know where Nirvana Bikes is, so I'll head over there.
I won't, however, be going there to play football! I think my namesake played for Crystal Palace!

It's still there, Fish. and the Stephen Langton in Friday Street (other side of Leith Hill) isn't too bad either. Then there's Abinger Hammer, which has at least two pubs IIRC. And the road from Dorking to Coldharbour contains three pubs within a few hundred yards.

All good.
