after a few years and several different types of lights where batteries are in bottle cages straped to crosbars under your seat come to thinking must be a better way to do this. looked at the nightsticks great idea but their still bolted on their. Looking at the long tubular design then onday happend to have my seat post out hmmmm an idea. took 1 7.2 volt nicad remote cotrol car batery split it in to its 2 halves solderd back together length wise added connector from old set of lights dropped into seat post add a bar plug to the end to stop falling out and a bit of foam to hold it all still inside no rattling conctor pops out top off stemseat bolts on again. and their we have it lights but wheres that battery???

Seat post used is a synchros hollow straight the way to that top through the clamp.

Did you drill a hole in the post to get the wire out?

Nice idea....

Maybe worth sealing it up a bit in plastic to keep the water out?

how about keeping the theme going you could just slide narrower cells inside the handlebars themselves?? OR fork steerer tube? - less wiring needed.

Really good idea - I've been pondering this for a while. Will those batteries give you enough mAh to do a decent nite ride of 2-2˝ hours?
