I'm not sure if this is of any use to people but I figure it certainly can't hurt to let you know what's happening down here in Plymouth in the run-up to the Bontrager 24/12 at Newnham park.
Currently we're under a lot of rain. There's been a couple of dry hours (and yesterday some HOT sunshine for 4 hours around lunchtime) but the over-riding theme for the past three days has been wetness and gray skies.
Being surrounded by hills if it continues like this you can expect a couple of things from the course:
1) The river crossing will be swollen (ooer) and fast which will make the bridge a popular option (expect queues).
2) The lower sections of the course are going to be slippy. Not quite mud tyre slippy yet but still not great.
I'll update as things change weather wise. If you have any questions get in touch and I'll do what I can to answer them.
(for the record I'm not associated with the event or the organisers).
You mean the place that used to host Amateur pole dancing nights? Couldn't tell you BHB. Tried to go in once, got down the stairs and was confronted by a lumpy ass in a thong. I didn't stay and I doubt very much I'll ever be going back. There's only so much a man is willing to go through in his quest for beer I'm afraid.
As it's all part of The Dog and Duck lot you can give them a bell and find out if you really want to (01752 221453) but I suspect you're just being facetious
lol I'm actually being serious I'm supposed to be going down tomorrow to watch a mates band playing down there...It's a female fronted metal band, one wonders if they were booked on false pretenses.
Now I'm sure it must be me but I always miss events down at Newnham...possibly I should look at news pages and XCracer more often.
To be fair the pole dancing thing happened when they were called 'Woodys' a while back but that did put me off a bit. You sure it's the Underground and not The Junction they're playing at?
As for the events at Newnham they never seem to bother promoting them down here for some reason so don't go thinking it's just you. I'm sure there are plenty of people who don't know it's going on.
I might head down to the party for a beer or two and do a bit of 'celeb' spotting.
