Update!

So over the past couple of months I've been tyre testing on behalf of a mate of mine who works for a large well know importer.  I've been riding all conditions, HT and FS on Brian Lopes signature Kenda El Moco's (the 2.1 non stickE dual compound version)

The spin is that they are "a favoroured mix of High Rollers, Nevegals etc"  Here's what I've discovered:

They have the squared profile and edge of the High Rollers - the absolutely rail corners, and the "spikey" edge cuts and gives confidence in mud up to TrailRaker standards.  Look down at the wheel while its spinning and you can see 3 very defined grooves which are no doubt keeping this tyre as straight as a dye.

They are high volume, dual compound and the middle of the tyre grips and rolls well on all surfaces.  However on flat dry single track they drag a tad - you'll feel it on the ups (although its not bad), but they will glue you to the downs.  Reverse the tread appropriately for the rear and its very very predicatable - you can let it slide on dust, slide on mud, and drift on roots with absolute confidence.

During my research and casual "Small room" reading of bike mags I noted 99% pics of flyin' Brian in 99% of conditions he was using this tyre, and frankly I'd concur - I'm sticking these on my Intense and they will be staying on there all year round - my "spare" HT will have Trail Rakers for the winter Epping gloop, and Fire XC Pro's for the odd some outing.

In summary try the El Moco's - they are a cracking tyre, the best I've ridden.  Note however, a square profile suits my style, I don't get on with rounded profile tyres that well.

I've been tyre testing for many a year and have bought some mountain kings to put on my FSR

Reason is the pattern [although knobs are a different profile] is very similiar to Spesh Roll X Race tyres which have long been my favourite.

Posters here helped make the decision

For the hard  tail its an Adrenalin on the front and a High Roller on the back more usefull in the mud.

For real mud the rear on both bikes will have a Swampthing.
