Just bought a new Topeak saddlebag as the Lezeyne one which I really liked fell apart after a very short time

Just been up to the shooting cabin in Hayfield, got back, cleaned the bike, then noticed that the zip on the saddlebag has worked its way open and it was completely empty!

2 tubes, Pedros tyre levers, Sram chain, powerlinks, multitool, patches...

fucking grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Happened to me once, lost my car keys, did the loop again hoping to find them, then had a 30 mile road ride to get home. Cost something ridiculous to get a new key, iirc it was about £120.

I suspect that I hadn't closed it properly in the first place as I can't see how it could come open if properly closed, nowI am quite fanatical about checking it is securly zipped up.

A safety pin through the zip tag into the material of the bag should stop them coming open if they are creeping.

Works for me when the fly creeps on me work jeans!

But just think you may have helped out a chap with a puncture or broken chain.

same here, hence I keep nothing of value in my saddlebag, just tubes, tyre levers etc.

Wrote to Wiggle about this

Sent back the saddlebag, and they refunded me for the saddlebag AND gave me £50 worth of vouchers to replace lost equipment

Top notch!!

I will be using Wiggle wherever possible in the future!

Strange, have 3 different Topeak and never noticed this phenomenon.

Maybe I will and write to Wiggle and CRC - See who comes up with the best compo.

Maybe I had my blackberry in it at the time as well as all the tools.

What's a saddlebag?

I carry all my stuff in my Camelbak - what's the point of carrying two bags when one will take everything.
