Osprey stuff is generally pretty overpriced, over designed junk...well it certainley was in the climbing world.

POD sacs are the daddy of climbing sacs, but that's just my opinion of course.

Bull shit, I've got an Osprey rucksack and it's the best one I've ever had. Great design features and a durable bit of kit.

Loser.

Heard a lot about Osprey stuff of late so had a good shufti at some of their smaller rucksaks when I was in Keswick last weekend. As Karlos says they have some good design features but I felt they were a bit flimsy. Didn't look, overall, good VFM.

I've just got one of these -

Tis well bombproof.

Just my opinion DK, this was a few years back when I had to sell them (and send them back to osprey when the sewing failed) POD sacs outsold everything and arc'teryx ones were just a joke.

Me? I still use a Karrimor Hot Rock from like 1993...best climbing sac ever made...about 6 years after I had it the stiching came off, just around the join on the snow gaiter, I was chatting the rep and he took it back they sewed it and they even sewed my Union Flag back on properly for me

I've had one of those for a couple of years LG and it's generally been great.

However........ watch the bladder - mine didn't last too long as the detachable hose started leaking where it connects to the bladder and I had to bin it for one of my old camelbak bladders.

They also make the best fleeces and Pants.

Got some G11s from about 1985 still in use and a Snap T from similar period.

Longest lasting fleece though is a Salewa I bought some time in the late 70's

Synchilla is a brilliant fabric...i've still got an ageing snap-t...don't wear it because it's a horrendous early 90's climbing fashion disaster

The bladder in my Da Kine lasted all of a ride. Piece of sh!t.

Rucksack is quite nice though, although my Wingnut is lighter, more versatile and comfier.

Karrimor kit before their late 90s buyout was very good. Afterwards I wouldn't touch it with yours.

True words Pimpmaster Jazz, the Hot Rock is bombproof, I'm sure I've got an old Jaguar 65 kicking around somewhere up North.

The first rucsac I ever had was a red karrimor 40litre thing with leather straps and a canvas back...I'm pretty sure that was one of my dads first ever rucsacs...I imagine if we still have it some where it could be even make it to being my future grandsons first rucsac too.

Rucsacs should be simple, I've seen some amazing looking back systems but it's the simple ones that last and last.

If I could afford one I'd have an Arc-Teryx

I still have an Epic Approach Karrimor of similar vintage, superb kit. The old Karrimor panniers, Kalahari etc, were also the very private parts of a canine.

Osprey rucksacks are the daddy. I still have an old 35lt karrimor rucksack and whilst it has been durable it doesn't compare to today's gear. You lot are looking through rose tinted goggles, move on.
