The Pace is actually made in the UK. It's fillet brazed, that Genesis is TIG welded. Presumably XCman either hasn't seen one or the other frame or is visually impaired

Whether it's worth the money is for the holder of the money to decide, though.

That explains the price then.

Joking apart, I can't understand this fad for fillet brazing. Tubesets such as 853 aren't weakened by the temperatures reached in TIG welding and short butts mean there's plenty enough metal to weld. My personal preference is for lugged and brazed with longer butts which comes out a bit heavier but is supposed to be the stiffest. Failing that TIG.

I suspect it's mainly an attempt to appeal to the rider of longer standing, a bit of a piggyback on the retro thing. As John says, it's hard to find any particular functional reason for it. It sure is purty-looking, though. Saracen's going to have a couple of fillet-brazed bikes in its range next year, too, although I've only got fuzzy phone pics of them (http://www.twitpic.com/kqxf3).

I read on STW that Saracen were re-releasing the Kili Flyer made in the UK. Who did they get to make it?
