For reasons I cannot divulge at present due to professional restrictions (my employer), I really, really need to know how the good the riding is on the Isle of Man (variety, interest, quantity etc.). The offer's a good 'un but I don't want to have to catch a three hour ferry each time the spirit is with me.
Does anyone have any information?
Thanks in advance.

Fancy a recce Julian?
I've considered going over there for ages and the fares is £100 or so for 1 car + 2 people off peak.
You can ride from one end of the island to the other on the millenium way - I know that for sure. And there's a 2000ft mountain on it.
Seeing as its just off the Cumbrian coast (I spent many a day looking at it, but have only been there once when 5) it should be very much like cumbria in terrain.
I'm serious - if you fancy 3 or 4 days over their I'm up for it.

Thanks for the offer Kev. I have entered your proposal into my "Plans for Early 2001". Actually, this sounds like a good idea and I'm up for it. I should really qualify as a Bike Geek because, when we first discussed the possibility of moving there, one of my initial reactions was how good/bad the riding would be. I'd considered the possibility of swimming to the Cumbrian coast with the bike over my back but, as it doesn't have Monkey Lite bars (or whatever they're called) on it, the weight became an issue (that and the fact that I only graduated to my green badge at school).
Seriously though Kev, many thanks for the offer. Once I've worked out when I can take the time. I'll let you know. Obviously, I will have to spend a week or so there in any case to start with so I may just as well combine my activities.
Cheers

MMB carried an article (God rest its soul) based loosely on an off road circuit around the TT. I think they found the riding pretty good. If you want, Julian, I'll photocopy it and post it on to you.

I'd be grateful for that.
Thanks Jonathan.
