I all

I was wondering if there are any good spots in and around the epping area, jumps play area's, dh or ds tracks and riders. I am quite new to the area and would like to find some more places to ride

Cheers Alastair

There are some jumps around, but Epping isn't a hilly area. Avoid riding in places where it says No Cycling as it is a very heavily used area and I don't think it'll take much to get mtb's confined to the surfaced rides - boring. Also worth considering that people have built jumps on areas of archaelogical interest like Loughton Camp. Steer clear

I have seen these but have not ridden them as the £200 pound fine signs have put ne off some. I have found the the forest can be pretty busy also especially sundays around high beach I was wondering if anyone knew of any tucked away area's out of everyones way.

If you want it quiet go night riding, esp at this time of year.

Best way to get to know the trails, like anywhere is with someone who knows the place. Tony Wade, who frequents these parts most afternoons, has good knowledge

I have great knolwedge. The Loughton Camp Jump Site is fine for Cyclists, as the actual camp is about 50m from the jump spot, so its all legal. You also have the rifle butts which the downhillers hang out on, and you have a few good downhill run from Pole Hill in Chingford. You will be very lucky if you can find a good downhill run that lasts more than 1 and a half minutes. Epping is more Singletrack runs than downhill runs, which, as everyone knows are great fun. E-mail me if you want me to show you some of the best bits.

Its whats known as a "good laugh, not to fast paced"

and don't go to the campsite on your own, it has been known for people to get logs around the back of the head, and on awaking finding no bike.

sounds good, what time and where do u meet?? hopefully i cant get out of bed at a reasonable hour on a sunday!!!!!

I note your point about the camp site, u do get some dubious people lurking in the bushes....least its still probably safer than going over to eagle ponds....
