Does anyone know if the latest Barracuda slalom is any good? I will be trail riding on singletrack, stuff like that. Some of ny mates say that Barracuda's fall apart. Is this true? And if so, are there any specific bikes which do? Any info would be very helpful. It's the latest Barracuda slalom model, with front disc brake, made by quad.

I got it for £300. I'm only 13 and so I'm only just starting to get into mountain biking, and I thought it would be a good starter bike. so if you've read the thread and are about to say what a total load of s**t it is, remember that i'm only going to do a few trails, not getting too serious just yet. Thanks.

Barracudas are a generic taiwan frame rebadged and sold on. Generic Taiwan frames aren't that bad any more, so it probably isnt too bad. Wouldn't have bothered with the disc though. I bet it sucks.

The problem with lower end full suspension bikes is that the pivots tend to wear out real quick and they are very sloppy to start with, the forks won't be all that and as for a disc brake?

Thanks for the messages, it helped me. When i'm a bit older, and can get a bit more money in, i'll buy another bike, made by Saracen or something like that. Cheers again for the replies.

well if i were you i wouldn't get a barracuda slalom, they weigh a ton but if you want a decent bike for less than 300 quid i would get something like a saracen raw 2, but if you wait a bit you could get a raw 3. (if you want the spec and a picture go to www.sapphire-cycles.co.uk . thats for the raw(3). the raw 2 - go to halfords or somewhere!
