Well, make sure there done up tight, and don't worry about it sofar it's not been a issue.
Hitting a Log or Hidden Tree stumps had me over the bars a fair few times.
MTBing, is a dangerous sport, accidents will happen!!

Flippin' heck. I've never had online attention like this! Cheers for all your comments and the front page! Yeah, it was messy. A night ride in January. Had been riding for about an hour with no problems at all, and was on last (very easy, straight, fire trail) 25mph downhill home. One minute there was a front wheel, then there wasn't. Weird. My error? Bike error? Disc error? Who knows. 3 hours in Northallerton casualty (top nurses - cheers!) getting glued and stitched together, and a massive thanks to Ian and Anna Z-Smith for sorting me out! Oh yes, I get married in May. I've been banned from riding for four weeks before by the missus....wonder why....?!

I've been introducing you to all my friends her at the Bank....

is that the best picture to show them??

 That must have hurt!

I was never entirely convinced by the physics on that "disc braked pull out your front wheel" argument, although if you're dragging your brakes as you go over a lip, I can see it might just be possible to have all the forces working in a directions that stuff could actually move.
But again if you have lawyer lips on the forks, it seems almost impossible unless the skewer breaks.
Ilost my front wheel once from my lipless Pace RC36's but got away with it.

New Pace's have MASSSIVE great studs sticking out below the dropouts, so that you actually have to almost totally unscrew the skewer to get the wheel out. Better than a face brake though I suppose, I got down into Edale once and noticed my wheel was only being held in by the tabs...

.jpg_little.jpg) I am glad you are ok and shudder to think what would have happend if you had not had the helmet on. Happy New year

I'm a tad worried now as the "lawyer lips" on my Marzzochis got damamged on hols, there is a section missing from the bottom on one side, to the extent that there is metal crystalisation showing! Problem or not?

My 65 yr old dad had a nasty crash like that. He was testing his new V-Brakes going down a steep hill, showing my 60 yr old mum how to keep her weight over the back wheel when braking. He went arse over tit and smashed up his face, broke his nose, lost a tooth, tore his top lip up to his nose and chiped his chin! Sadly that experience ended his MTB antics.

Nearly done that yesterday, dry trails got carried away went into a 40degree ish bank, which steepens to @50degrees I've put a longer stem on the bike recently couldn't get enough weight back rear wheel popped up without using any brakes thought I was a goner, trees and need to go hard right at the bottom, just made it, legs didn't stop wobbling for 10mins LOL
30mm shorter Stem Ordered today

How many more pictures like that before I invest in QR 20?
|
 |
My pace fork does not have any lawyers lumps but then again i make sure the QR is dont up properly. My old Rond forks had said lumps so i purchased a set of QR with an extra large throw so when they were loose they still made it clear over said lumps.

 |
had the bearings in my (new) hub fail, which loosened the QR and snapped off the lawyer pins on a pair of RC36s - luckily only at a stumble-over-the-bar 2mph on a switchback at afan
moral - check everythings tight!
