I have been looking at the nevegal/blue groove tyres in 2.1 and 2.35 size (Those who have read my "Tyrerant" will appreciate the next bit)

If anyone’s got either of these tyres could you tell me the width bead-to-bead? I am not sure I trust the measurements in ST tyre test. And I don't want another repeat of buying tyres that are smaller then I think they are

Oh and any thoughts on these would be welcome

Thanks for any help

bead to bead on my 2.1 nevegal is 235 mm

as for thoughts, probably the best all surface tire i've tried, saying that, the rear lacks traction on wet muddy climbs and in mud they run heavy, but the front still keeps grip but the back is all over the place which can be fun :). Off camber mud at speed (i lost it today) is hairy but off camber roots can be taken with confidence even when the tyres are clogged with mud. Possibly not the best choice if your ride is mostly mud.

Thanks for that.

I have looked an old review in WMB and they said much the same.

One tyre that has caught my eye in that review is the Schwalbe Albert.

I am buggered if I can find the folding/snakeskin version anywhere for sale except on the fisher site where they want £33 pound for one!

Anyone tried these ?

Claude, glad you said that about the Nevegal swinging about on muddy climbs - I thought it was just me!

Like you say though, pretty damned good on everything else!

I have the 2.35 nevegal rear and blue groove front. They are big tyres but surprisingly they dont drag to badly imo.

Havent measured them (I aint measuring how wide a tyre is, sorry my wife would piss herself) but they are excellent tyres.

I have ridden them for about 2-3months now and the nevegal can slide in the gloop but then its no worse than pretty much any non mud specific mud tyre. It is however better than most for all other riding and i am very pleased with the blue groove front.

All in all a nice pair of tyres which are wearing ok considering the abuse they have had.

Has anyone tried the Blue Groove 2.35's back to back against the 2.1's

I've been riding the 2.35's for trail centre work and some local XC and really like them, just wondering how much traction I'll lose if I go to 2.1's for a bit more rollability??

Nevegals rock!

Especially in the 2.5 DH casing!

Not sure about the 2.1's and traction, but i used to have 2.35 Nevegals and found that they pretty much stick the ground as well as the 2.5's (although i used the 2.35 on a hardtail and the 2.5's on a dually).

Mud can be there weakness, although sliding the back on corners is awesome fun and i have never had the front wash out on me with the Nevegals  - i have with other brands .

Interested in how these size up too. Running 2.3 vertical pros at the moment and dn't want to go any bigger. These are the same size as 2.1 fire XC pros. Anyone know how do the Kenda's compare?

I think I ought to go for the 2.1's however I'm struggling as the 2.35's have been the biggest tyres I've ever ridden on and by a long way the most confidence inspiring...

nevegal 2.35 measures 60mmfrom edge of tread to edge of tread measured with my verniers. I run this on the rear & swalabe jimmy 2.1 up front & they seem to work very well together the jimmy tracks really well and the super tacky nevagal hasnt let go yet,

handles jumps &drops quite well to , still havent had pinch flat or puncture yet and been running them about three months on my hard tail . hope this helps ???????
