Naa, I'd rather have it on my phone. Along with the 5MP camera, WiFi,... its got everything! :p Anyway, anyone got any suggestions?

I have 3 Garmin GPS (I used to do naivigation systems for a living) and I'll take memory map on a phone any day over them (cept the Edge 305 on the handlebars)
Garmin's maps suck big time. Just about ok for navigating at country level but not at all usefull for the real world
Memory map allows me to combine 1:25 1:50 AtoZ and aeriel photos at the same time as showing my own overlays and routes

Yeah, thats what Viewranger is lacking - ariel photos, you can do everything else with it. Although I've got another application called MGMaps that gives me the ariel photos.
Hmmm, looks like I might have to just bodge a case from bits and pieces I find unless anyone can think of anything else?!

I dont think you can use Memory Map on that phone, something to do with the Simbion operating system. May be wrong tho.
Im not saying theres anything wrong with the phone, but rather for use on a MTB, why would you want to use the phones GPS, its going to burn you battery, you wont be able to use Wifi, or take pictures...
I would use it if i was navigating in a car

Actually battery life isn't too bad, I've got over 2hrs use with screensaver disabled and still some juice left! But I've bought a spare one just to be on the safe side! Bit annoying you can't use memory map, but this Viewranger thing is still pretty good.

Is the phone waterproof, or would you need a waterproof container?
I know, get Karlos to design something on CAD, send it to China, they will build it for you, import it, sell it on Ebay...make millions

Haha! Thats the problem, the N95 isn't waterproof :-( Well, could try designing it on CAD and it may well make millions! Certainly a niche in the market, there is only a hard plastic cover available on ebay which I've got. Only cost a few pence - my bodge case may consist of that, a freezer bag, a block of wood, an old light clamp and some zipties. And if it breaks... the phone is covered on insurance ;-)
