Yeah, I was getting Camelback-ache. I may try a two-bottle system for the Selkirk Merida.

I saw some riders filling their bottles from big Hi-five vats at the feeding stations. When I have tried that stuff previously it has been a very weak mixture.

You're better off taking a pre-measured bag (or bags) of your own energy powder and mixing them at the feeds with water.

Or if taking little bags full of power is too much faff...

Take two bottles. The first bottle has a normal strength energy drink. The second bottle has twice the normal amount of powder but no fluid. At the first feed quickly pour half the powder from the second bottle into the first (empty) bottle and add water to both.

Bingo! Two full bottles with normal strength energy drink  

I tried this once and ended up with the most God-awful gloopy mess in a bottle!

It didn't dissolve properly and I chewed my way across the Lakes!

Consider taking the Gels which are a concentrated version of the powder in an easily manageable squeeze.

Or, if you're seriously concerned, you know where the feed stations are going to be as you'll have a map on site. Jump in the car the day before and put some refueling items at stragetic points (maybe alongside the feed stations as you'll be stopping at these anyhow) .
