Hi all i found this bike on planet x and i have a budget of a grand (£1000) for a new or second hand bike. i think this is the 1 i am going for. As this is alot of money any other bike suggestions would be great. below a grand would be awesome (£800).

here is the link to the bike:

and the name of the bike is:

Mate, have you been on RCUK and asked there, it's more their cup of tea than BM. Fwiw the Planet X stuff has a reputation for killer value and being exceptionally good at the price.

There's a review on Bikeradar: here. Sounds spot on for time trialling / triathlon.

Maybe also have a look at the 220 Tri site.

Hope that's maybe some help. Most people here know more about mountain bikes than road or tri-orientated kit, though you'll still get some good advice

No worries. Good luck with the bike and the triathlons. My mate does Iron Man stuff... rather him than me

Agree that PlanetX is fantastic value.

If you're planning to ride, train and enjoy on the road and also do the occassional triathlon, you'd be better getting a 'normal' road bike, rather than a tri-specific machine.

Both the Planet-X carbon jobbie and their Superlight Team are really good value. If you fix your budget first then look at what spec that would buy you in either the carbon or Team. Either way you'll get a fine bike for the money.

My wife has the Superlight Team and is really pleased with it but (i) it's the only 'proper' road bike she's ever ridden and (ii) it's too small for me to ride. But just setting it up, wheeling it around etc it seems very nice (certainly for the £600 she paid for it)

If it helps I remember (on another forum) Brant (from PX) advising someone who was stretching his budget to get the £999 carbon deal. His advice was that the Team with an upgraded wheelset may be a better option.

It really would be worth your while phoning someone (Andy?) at PX and asking their advice too.
