Going to Scotland next week and staying in Glentress planning a couple of rides and was wondering if someone could tell me which is the better place to go DALBEATTIE OR MABIE we like fast flowing stuff with the odd jump or drop rather than long climbs and not much happening

                                  Cheers

Dalbeattie has 'The Slab' does it not. Looks hectic, but not as hectic as this!

My pics, bunch of locals;

Mabie is the fast & flowing one.

Dalbeattie has a lot of techy, pedaly bits

Niether have much in the way of climbs compared to GT/Inners

There is a jump/freeride park @ Mabie. Log rides at Dalbeattie.

If you are fit enough do them both, only 1/2hr apart. Cafe @ Mabie.

If you could make it on Thurs I am not working till 6pm, get the "locals"

Dalbeattie for me. Mabie is not very technical until you venture onto the North Side.

"Mabie is not very technical until you venture onto the North Side"..................all depends on your ability. Don`t know many locals who venture that far over. It is decidedly dodgy. Mabie is maybe not very techie depending on where your coming from but it is a blast/smiley type of route.

e.g....took a couple of Belgians round there a couple of weeks ago. Ability wise they were very fit, but technically they had never ridden on trails so narrow never ming rough & bouldery. Any drop became a dismount.

Too easy to label things according to your own ability.

Again as an example I have mtbed for something like 20yrs and don`t, can`t jump and don`t see the need to jump anything. But I`m getting old and don`t mend so easily.
