Megavalance and a solo 24 within a month, Mike? I like your style
as for gazebbos, Halfords do a very fold down one for 50 quid, all aluminium frame, also cool boxes and dont forget the blue freezer bricks.

If you get the ones for £20 from Tescos, make sure it not blowing more than 1-2 knott as it'll come down in a squeal of tortured poles and people enveloped within!

Been witness to 2 team gazebos at 2x different events end up in the skip thus far this year. At 2 other events the wind was still and the gazebos went home with their owners.

So, choose well my young Jedi!

Mike D, are you riding Sir?

Tim

(I have changed the cranks (175 up from 170) on the Merida today so should get out and try her out. If it solves the "warm knees" problem from earlier this month, I'll take the two bikes to SITS as boy, can she climb!)

It'll be wasted there, only a couple of banks at Catton IIRC.

This summers pile of race plates is getting even more bizarre....

I assume everyone is now in "relax" no-ride mode prior to the w/end? Just seems a shame not to try her out, but then the Turner's hardly a lardy-bike or an eye-sore!

Anyone bringing a tv? Will we be missing any Olympic action of any note? I think the mtn bike event is at the end of the 2 weeks. Oh, lastly, how may riders are there likely to be (MM had some 2500 I think)? And that Gold Rush race in March @ CDB, at the end of the ride, the first thing they did was snip the ride number off competitor's bikes! Boomin' chhek!

i'll be riding, but i won't go on any long rides

I am first reserve, so hoping someone injures themselves this week (only a little bit!)

Mike. Your long rides are most people's living nightmares!

What was that one a while ago: Swansea to Southampton in 15hrs?!

Fancy the Trans-Wales?

They're not that bad!
and the swansea-southampton was only because i couldn't afford the train. but because of that, i couldn't afford food either, and burning 15,000 calories with little to no intake made it a completely tougher challenge

I'd love the transwales, i just don't love the entry fee

ha ha you student mike! shud be over 1500 people attending to answer your earlier question.

i think you should see how far you can ride with food before you collapes into a pile of mush mike!

How much would you be willing to pay for an entry to 2008's TransWales? I might be able to get hold of a fully paid up entry with meals included fo you if you'd be interested.

Tried the Merida this evening and darn, even though the cranks are now 175, I know that my knees are warm to the touch. Not good, as she's such a lovely bike, really fast and some how seems to egg me on to climb faster, pedal quicker and harder. Now I know what is actually meant by a race bike - before it was merely an expression that I acknowledged in my reading of magazines and the like, but having ridden her, I have a new found respect for the breed and see how it would lead you onto far greater things were you to go down that route. Damn!

Meaning someone is going to get a veritable bargin on eBay.

It's not really how much i'd be willing to pay, i have absolutely nowt, so unless someone (bm maybe) want to be very generous, i'll not be doing it

Shame that the merida isn't sorted though

Tim, did you find the tent poles in the end?
Show/hide user stats
Yes.
I'll be putting them to good use on Friday night or Saturday morning.
Looking to bring the Pace HT as well looking at the weather forecast!
Mud, drying in the humidity - check that rear wheel - why is it not moving?!

skinny tyres and no gears suddenly make sense again

Myself and Nick are soloing, other Woburn locals are a pair from the BuzzardsMTB and an Elite mixed team from TeamMK.
Been pampering my 'good' bike all week though it looks like it'll be a case of dragging the singlespeed out again.
