Do you want me to show you how to ride it? Dylan, we are no better than you or any of your gang, yes there are some fast riders amongst us, and yes I'd love to be one of them. Yes we have some fit riders and again, I'd love to be one of them, and if time, commitment, and working life allowed us to train harder, there is no reason why you, me or any one else cant be as fast/fit. TBH most of us just potter along and enjoy the ride.

Wayne, we should merge our groups for a huge ride then, we'll bring Jen along aswell for Max effect and see how mad you lot get waiting for us all the time You have some very fit riders ( according to Jen I'll add ), peaks again is entirely social based although they are turning to the elitist side recently to sadly If you start taking MTBing to seriously then all the funs gone to me anyways. Sinner the founder will be riding again soon, slowly hopefully up and down Praise be to the Sinner!!

Do you want me to show you how to ride it? Yes please, yesterday's ride didn't go well - ended up riding CYB with my Reign locked out at the back and it singlespeed (my mech committed suicide into my spokes). And no, it wasn't easier than on a hardtail! TBH most of us just potter along and enjoy the ride. But Derek scares me with his fitness....really scares me!

Put up your dukes lads. Great to see some verbal duelling rather than downright abuse. For he reord i reckon wayne should take some anger management courses. You think this is bad, you should see the shit he gives FPDave on PMW. Oh and Hobo Style lads ride with the PMW riders a few times a year. They are very sociable riders and the chat lasts just as long as any Peaks again can muster. Its just that they do it whilst they turn their pedals as well as when they stop. It works well.

talk whilst pedalling... I can do that on the flat...

Actually going back to the original argument about riders using DH bikes on XC trails at the trail centres, there is one argument that the DH bikes cause more trail erosion. After all the trails were designed with a particular style of bike in mind and with a DH bike the riders can brake later into turns causing braking bumps etc. I think with Llandegla the trail is so over built it isn't a problem but some other trail centres I can think of it is.
|
 |
Daft, I'd say the other way around yes the DH bikes might be going faster but not always, the extra suspension should cause less damage.
|
 |
Sorry Daftpunk, not sure i really agree with your argument there. As a DH rider and racer i've ridden a lot of proper courses and yes they are a lot rougher than your average trail centre but there are definately more braking bumps and ruts at places like Coed y Brenin, glentress etc. I think this is due to the amount of riders and a large proportion of those that are unable to brake correctly into a corner, locking up their rear wheel. The design of the centre has a lot to do with this, especially the Welsh trails, as they for some reason build a nice bit of singletrack where you can get some speed up then suddenly shove in a tight hair pin for no reason other than to control a riders speed. I saw plenty of examples of this last time i rode the Marin trail and CyB.

I wasn't saying it was my argument particularly just an argument. It was in an issue of MBUK in an article written by that guy who designs trails for trail centres and it was something he brought up talking about one of the trails he'd designed in Afan I think it was. So from the horses mouth so to speak.

ahhh Russel Burton.... mmmm... I dread him turning up at my trails and dismissing them from his uber funded critical stand point... next time he builds a trail give him a spade and will power and see how well he does
