There's a few 'trail centers'in there that are not actually trail centers - like surrey hills and Delamere forest for example.

Overall, its a fine book. Very comprehensive - and looks great on my coffee table

Yeah Delamere has some surprisingly dangerous stuff if you know where to look.

If we're doin' recommendations then Mountain Biking Europe by Rowan Sorrell is excellent. I'm really looking forward this Summers roadtrip.

It's a mystery to me why anyone would feel the need to buy a book telling them about waymarked trail centres where you simply follow the arrows, but i'd be very interested in a review of this one that the same outfit are shortly bringing out.

Part of the  British "Mountain" thing is not having a guide. So why buy a guide to a trail centre when as Monty says they are way marked.

Suppose its the Munro style "Ticked that" coming into the sport no book no where to put the ticks.

The vertebrate Outdoor book does look quite good, although a lot of the more central scotland stuff is more heavily covered here,  and includes the Gaick/Minaging/Comyn's Road/ Thieves Road.  Can't recommend it enough.

If you're not local then they're a good way to find out what or where is worth riding, not so much for the route guide but for an idea of what type of riding each centre has to offer. That's why I bought this one.

That said, the book you've linked Monty does look interesting, I've done a few of the rides listed and plan on doing a few more soon. It might be worth a few quid, I'd like to have a look through it first tho'.

Aye, I'll link Ralph Storer's book, I didn't realise it was still in print. Although it's not aimed specifically at cyclists, I always liked the background info that went with the track descriptions.
