After the lovely cold weather which hardened the ground up it looks like things are back to normal again and the horrible shitty sticky slimy mud is back Just got back from a quick ride up to the shooting cabin and didn't enjoy it much cause of the mud everywhere Is there anywhere not too far from New Mills/Hayfield that makes a good ride whatever the weather? I pretty much had my fill of mud last year

out towards castleton, side of ladybower, lockerbrook, Beast, Roman road, Hope Cross, Jaggers, Jacobs. Quite a lot of rocky ones out that way that are great in the wet.

No worries, The V-Graphics books have some great all weather routes in the Peak.

From New Mills area the Mellor Cross/Roman Lakes/Rowarth trails are generally pretty good in the wet. There'll be plenty of water around, but not much proper mud. Lots of nice rocky climbs and descents, but reasonably low level, so out of the worst of the weather. We often use them as a good winter night ride choice. Like Simon says, the VG book has some routes in the area, or just have a look at the map. Or tag along with with Peak Midweek.
