have ridden Lanndegla a few times and enjoy it out there but often feel it's a bit short. We've heard a number of stories about an extended route starting at the "crossroads" near the top of the first climb which takes in a comms tower or something before rejoing the Red route.
Does anyone have a tracklog, good directions or any other information on this? It'd be a nice alternative to doing the existing trails more than once.
At the junction, turn left down slight rise towards two gates , at gate turn imediately right up hill, slippy and deep mud holes, to stile on left ide , over stile and climb up hill, at second tower, follow around to left, nice downhill bit, a bit narrow and risk of catching pedals, follow nose , there are some very steep and dodgy bits, eventually cross a stream after down hill scrabble, turn left on road, follow road look for offas dyke path sign on lhs, along sleeper boardwalk back up to forest and arrive at double gates again, and back to visitor centre, via red or black route.
On the main drag up towards the top, youll see a wooden shed, a twitchers hide, not this junction but the next, turn left, here, it looks the same as the shed one, it probably adds about 4 miles to the route, beaware if you do the route in reverse theres more climbing on slippy bits and some seriously deep muddy bits .
