Went out over the weekend and all ok, today after washing the bike a pootle on road and the bb is grinding, so a bit further on and there is cracking sort of noise from the bb.

Its about 4 or 5 months old fitted by a shop, and cost 65 quid includeing fitting, should it have lasted longer, and can they be disassembled to replace the bearings, like the good old days with cup and ball bearings.

Anything from 2 weeks to 2 years(assuming it's an HTII) as far as I can tell

At £65 I presume it came with a chainset?

You say 4/5 months, but how much riding in that time?

Also seem to depend on whether you re-pack them in-between, but as the shop did it, I guess not...

Shimano HT2's lasted me about 6-12 months, but since moving to Hope never replaced one.

SQ tapper BB cost £10 three years ago ,took it out the weekend and it feels as good as the day it was fitted, its a giant XTC carbon frame and I cannot see the point in buying all this expensive gear when most of it wears out in no time and very few riders can notice any difference anyway
