I was in Dorking earlier today and the place seemed riddled with bikes, not just roadies but a fair few mtb's, now i'm having to venture back Dorking way for a long weekend as my mates getting married, so is it worth taking the bike?

There's some brilliant riding round there - was over there last weekend for the first tim in ages - especially if you can find a willing guide. There's usually a few groups that meet up at Westcott (by Nirvana) & head of up the hills.
