I once knew a guy who stuck a suspension seat post on his full suss.  I never saw the point either.

I guess I just prefer a stiffer ride.  A bit of sag is fine but should I really use 40-50mm of travel just pedalling out of the saddle?  I'm not that concerned about energy being robbed by the frame and fox shock - these seem remarkably free of bob.  The fox shock works very nicely and I am quite happy to set up sag as per makers instructions.  But I just prefer a stiffer fork.  Maybe here I need air....

I think you've answered your own question Garth, the air Pike is going to give you much more set up options

TBH I would be worried if my 140mm Pike didn't give up 40-50mm of its travel while I was pedalling out of the saddle, but its your bike and if its not set up to your liking you won't feel happy with it will you.

It's too soft.  I might get the air anyway.  It's only money.

Though I am now intrigued whether my Pike 351 has INTERNAL floodgate.  Anyone know?

Apparently some Pike forks did hide the 2.5mm bolt to adjust floodgate beneath a plastic cap held in place by a circlip (never simple eh?).  Though I have also been led to believe that some had the cap and circlip[ but nothing to adjust beneath i.e. no allen key and no floodgate.  Now mine has black cap and circlip.  So I wonder if there is a floodgate allen key beneath....

If anyone knows for sure, please let me know...   be quick though, cos I am about to pop to shops for a circlip remover!!!!!!

It seems to me that floodgate is the key to getting the Pike to act like a Pike.  It seems to me that Specialized have fucked around and made my Pike unlike a Pike should be.

Opening floodgates is not recommended you never know what may wash in.
