I'm looking to replace the forks on my Klein Attitude - need approx 100mm , fairly lightweight, as I only weigh 60kg and do most of the burly stuff on my full suss.

Have narrowed it down to either Rockshox Reba or Sids but have got stuck. What is the difference if any between them, and is one more suitable than the other for a lightweight like me. It'll probably spend most of it's time in Epping hopping logs and grinding in mud so some longevity but not necc hard hitting abilty would be good.

Also, what the hell is the difference between poplock and pushlock?!!!

I don't really know what the differences are but Merlin are doing the SID's so damn cheap this weekend I almost wish I needed forks!

So they are, there's a set of Sid Race at almost the same price as the Reba, levels the field a bit, maybe makes the Sid's more attractive (200g weight saving, must be worth the extra

The MX Comps that are on there are old and heavy so it'll be interesting to see the difference, the bikes getting on a bit but it's a lovely frame so I'm in no hurry to change it.

Personally I think I'd go for the Reba's - They weigh a little more, but they're stiffer, stronger and IMO more reliable than the SIDs... Although the price drop of the latter does make the choice a little more difficult

Blimey - 60kg! It sounds as if SIDs could be too beefy for you LOL

Serioiusly: unless you ride some kind of long forked bike then it's SIDs for you.(the recent models are supposed to be much more rigid than previous wibbly-wobbly versions of past years - you can get 'em in bolt-thru too.)

New SIDs are stiffer than old Rebas, and as you're looking at 100mm forks, that's presumably the comparison you're making?

Pre 2009 SIDs were 80mm, Rebas were 100mm, 2009 onwards SIDs are the new 100mm fork, Rebas are 120.

New SIDs are excellent, much better than the older Rebas, and if Merlin are doing a price, it's an easy decision IMO.

Thank you, that's v helpful, it is the 100mm 09 SIDS on sale at Merlin £300 for the Race model, same price as the mid range Rebas. Will order and fit, I love the hardtail but the forks have gone beyond repair so it'll be good to have it going well again.
