Anyone know what they are like at the moment?

I know it has been wet for the last week or two and want to know if I need to change my summer rubber that is on the bike (Small Block 8 on the rear) to something with more grip.

Thanks, looks like weather has worsened since you both posted - riding Friday and I hope it is drier on the SDW than where I am in Surrey. I guess I might need to put some grippier tyres on than the summer treads I have.

Panaracer fire xc more suitable?

Hi Gribble, I would stick with your summer tyres.. it wont be that wet.. I am using maxxis crossmark on the downs at the moment and have no problems anywhere..

Danny,

Thanks. Unfortunately I got up early and changed them over as I thought I might not have the time this evening (we are going Friday morning). Might be a bit slower but probably the pies will make more difference to my overall performance!

Thanks. Hope my legs hold out. Doing it over two days, (Fri/Sat). Sat is looking very wet and we have slightly further to go, so am hoping grim determination will get me through the second day...

A few chalky descents to watch out for......if they're wet!

Got back yesterday evening. Did not manage to do the whole lot unfortunately - 50 odd miles to Amaberly Friday, started ok Sat but weather turned around 4pm. Had to make a decision to cut it short and head down to Lewes station at around 5pm, after approx 30 + miles. Gutted we did not complete the ride, but great experience and I will be back to knock it on the head!

People who do it in one day deserve respect!

bad luck Gribble.. Hopefully next time you will get better weather.. its worth doing again just for the feeling you get as you roll down the hill into eastbourne
