Thinking about purchasing a budget GPS

I live in the north east of Scotland, just outside Aberdeen and do most of my riding in the trails round about Deeside, Cairgorms, Donside etc. I am wondering about buying a GPS but dont want to spend a lot of money. Typical Aberdonian I hear you say. The main things I want to be able to do are, 1) to waymark the routes that I am cycling, without having to manually mark waypoints as I am cycling. 2)Save said tracks so I can download onto laptop and google earth etc. and 3) Load the tracks back on or conceivably load other tracks onto the unit to keep me right for routes which are new.

All seems pretty straighforward I hear you guys say so what is the best and most cost effective way for me to achieve this, given that I am not bothered about fancy displays or any other fancy gadgetry just a means for me to plot and save routes.

Any help would be appreciated, feel like a bit of a luddite at the mo.

Well Fin, tonight could be your lucky night!!!

I have a Garmin VISTA C which would do all of the above AND tell you your altitude. It comes with a handle bar mount and is on offer for the princely sum of £80 ono. I paid about £200 a couple of years ago and haven't really used it at all over the last 12 months.

I'm only selling it as I am emigrating and selling off everything I can to pay for my dogs broken leg. Now, put your hanky away and PM me if it is of interest!
