Saw this on the news last night - kinda reminds you how dangerous this sport can be, even when you least expect it.

I think statistics will bear out that MTB'ing is low on the list of sports that have high levels of fatalities---think how many cyclists are killed on the road.Ok we have a lot of injuries but do many of them lead to permanant incapacity?Sadly ther is also an element of Darwinism at work here--riding Alpine single track on your own is not wise
