I'm looking to acquire a new road bike but am getting seriously confused....can anybody help me ????

I have got a Cube SL Cross hybrid/Commuter but have been looking at getting a Cube Aerial(I think)

The Aerial I tried for size (only a short ride - about 10 mins) was a '58' but it felt like I was folded in half! On return to the LBS we measured the top tube length plus stem etc to find that they both measure exactly the same.....I'm ok on the hybrid - why not the 'racer'??

Presumably the hybrid has flat bars, whilst the Aerial has drops? Compare stem lengths, look at saddle postition and seatpost layback.

I assume you were riding on the hoods of the road bike, rather than the tops, mimicking the flat bar position? Because drop bars stretch you out it's unusual to find yourself more hunched on a drop bar bike.

If you've got both side by side measure more than the top tube, look at the length of the bike overall, from the saddle to the bars, look at the drop to the bars, etc etc.

Flat bars on the hybrid and drops on the Aerial, yes Nick

The distance from the seatpost to the bars was 0.5cm longer on the Aerial......I just can't get my head around it.......Hybrid slightly longer bike (larger wheels?) but other distances the same or greater on the Aerial (but not by much....)

Monmouth County, New Jersey, has many claims to fame: Bruce Springsteen's hometown, the northern end of the Intracoastal Waterway, a Revolutionary War battlefield, the film Jersey Girl . . . and Bike New York's Twin Lights Ride on Saturday, September 26. Founded in 2002, the annual ride begins and ends beneath Highlands' famed Twin Lights, a hilltop 19th-century lighthouse overlooking the entrance to New York Harbor.

Look at the rise on the stem, this will make you feel more hunched or tucked over. How was the saddle positioned? Hybrids are designed around an upright riding position, thereas the roadies are designed for a more aggressive riding position.
