I've been looking for details on riding at Hanchurch Woods as I need a change from my usual Macc Forest, Cannock, Ladybower routes.

Info on Hanchurch woods is really thin on the ground though.  I'm not into competition riding or anything like that, just fun. I know it's in the Stoke-on-Trent/Newcastle/Keele area which would be great for me as it's only ~10 miles away.

Where is the best place to start from, are there any routes marked out or is it just a free for all (sort of find the trails as you go)?

There are a few trails there, its not a massive place so dont expect a big ride.It can get quite muddy when it's wet but when its dry its ace,isn't everywhere though?
