Will be riding Friday around Aviemore maybe and somewhere between Aviemore and Ballater Saturday.

Recommend somewhere to visit for a few hours riding.

Two from Aviemore(ish) spring to mind.

Burma Road and Pass of Ryoan.

This turns the latter into a circular route - not that technical but stunning scenary.

Burma road is typical Caingorm stuff, landy track. Meant to be a classic, tough climb.

The guys in Bothy Bikes, they will be able give you more up to date info.

Off the Aviemore to Ballater road - at Tomintoul - there's the GlenLivet estate. Some stuff here.

Gav thanks for that had a look at some of those.

Have you ever cycled from Aviemore to Glen Dee through the Lairig Ghru, if so whats the terrain like, I can ride it and send the missus round in the car to meet me.

Don't even consider the Lairig Ghru !  Mostable unrideable - in Storers "exploring scottish hill tracks' he gives times for both walking and cycling. Walking is quicker. He's not exaggerating on this point.

From Aviemore to Glen Dee - two options. Down Glen Feshie and across to White Bridge - good scenary, mostly landy tracks though and pretty flat.

Other is through the Braes of Abernethy to Tomintoul, then down the obvious track between Culladorch and another C beginning Corbett to between Braemar and Ballater.

Never done the Braes myself but - the track between Tomintoul and Ballater is great, some legendary singletrack and good descent.

When are you off ? Got to shoot now, but will try to update later or tomorrow morning.

Was hoping to get an early dart tonight but wifes not in from work yet.

So early in the morning, save us from having to sleep under a bridge, us poor northerners cant afford a hotel

The other one I was thinking off, from Tomintoul head South to Inchory, then head west along the track till eventually you get to the Fords of Avon. South down the Lairg an Laiogh till you come into Glen Derry. The east to Lin of Dee.

Is a proper epic - all day job - and some serious fords to cross IIRC - has been pretty wet here the last week. Obv a fair bit of  pushing as well.

The start of this is the one I mentioned in my previous post which is def recommended, carries on past Inchory on past Loch Bulig and spits you out at Invercauld Bridge - where there is a car park and toilets. Ideal for a (female) pickup point.

Have a good time, hope the weather improves for you.

Thanks Gav will try one of them, depending on weather, fingers crossed it'll be fine ish.

Did some stuff on the side of Morvan. Did a route over Mount Keen today. Whoever said you can cycle up it if your fit needs to add "from the south". Did manage to ride all the way down and a very nice descent it was to
