I was hearing tonight from a friend who was buying a new Specialized bike for his Missus that he has to wait 6 months for it to come in due to the overwhelming demand.

I wasn't aware that apparantly Specialized are selling their bikes so quickly at the moment, you can easily miss out on what you want.

Nick Evans should know more.......is this true Nick?

That's mental.  Some of the new range looks superb but 6 months for a generic production line product is mental.

I had to wait around 3 months for the Spesh Roubaix that I had ordered. After three months waiting Spesh informed my LBS that the bike would never be arriving because of increased demand in the States. They offered me an S-Works Tarmac frame for the same price as a Roubaix frame so in the end I was happy about the wait.

Depends on the bike, I'd be really surprised about waiting that long for an average bike, but it's very plausible for an S-Works or something. Occasionally they sell out of the 'normal' bikes in April-May time and you have to wait until the new stock comes in September, but 6 months is very unusual, particularly if they've only just ordered it.
