Has anyone ever been to Argentina?
and/or Patagonia

I am thinking of going there on a cycling adventure next year, and am looking for some background info, recommendations for decent places to see and some recommended reading.

I have 2 rough ideas for what I might do.

1. Start off in Patagonia and cycle to Buenos Aires to spend a long weekend dancing with sultry South American girls.

2.  Start off in Patagonia and cycle for 10-14 days in the andean foothills and Argentinian lake district, then catch a train to Buenos Aires and spend a long weekend dancing with sultry South American girls.

Good luck on your trip, the last time I was down that way I was wearing green and shooting at the "locals"
sounds like a hell of a stag party

It was quite compared to a Saturday night in Glasgow...

Argies, Benny's or both??

Actually if you were shooting at the locals would that have not meant you were in the Argentinian military?

If you were British you would have been shooting at the invading Argentinian forces, or were you just shooting indiscriminately at anything that moved, adding an extra notch to your rifle for every sheep killed.

A friend went working in the Falklands in the mid 90's, and there were still some uncleared minefields, so on a Saturday night when the locals were getting a bit pissed up, they would go to a minefield, throw a sheep in and bet on how long it would be until it blew up.

It was meant to be a tongue in check comment after all they thought it was their islands. I was shooting at the Argies, no notches in my rifle I used my little tank.

I'm planning to go to Patagonia for five weeks next year, I'll let you know.

Five weeks, lucky bastard.

I thought I would go in disguse so as to blend in with the locals and not atract the atention of any bandito's, this is my first attempt it seems pretty authentic.
