Where can I buy a pair of wiper seals for a talas fork 06?

Or are they not year specific?

I can only find a pair on Stif cycles

I clearly wasn't looking hard enough, I had a browse on Mojo and couldn't see them...I will give them a tinkle later and order them.

Also see if I can get them to tell me how replace the wipers without needed a fox IFP tool which they say you need on the fox forx tutorial

real easy BHB no need to dismantle the talas/air spring  side as such.  Just remove the lowers by removing the end bolts/threshold adjust. remove the damper unit from the stantions as per fox. remove old seals and foam rings from lowers and clean. pump the damper clean of old oil and wipe down. put the new seals and foam rings on the stantions fit the lowers. put in the damper (refit the threshold adjust)  and fill the with damper oil, screw down the damper top. push home the foam rings and seals (being very careful not to scratch the stantions and not to crush the seals)  turn over the forks fill the air side with its oil and fit the end bolt. fill with air and your good to go.

if you want to go down the fox route a football filler needle valve does a good job. but the most difficult job is realigning the talas adjust gubbins i couldn't get it to working using foxes methodology and resorted to trial and error in the end.

you probably know already it's a mucky job so have plenty of oil collection trays ready

have you got a 26 mm socket ? as you'll need one to undo the damper cap.

p.s. piss off to showmewhatwinge with that kind of imagery

p.p.s is that headset wear on your steerer tube ?

think it's more to do with the "rounding" height on the socket as it's a very shallow nut, attacking it with an angle grinder to give it a nice square edge so it doesn't slip off the cap (the socket that is, attacking your forks with an angle grinder is not recommended).

A pukka 6 sided one will always get a better purchase on the nut - probably why they tend to be loads dearer than t'others.

Hmmm, mine's unchamfered so is more or less flush across the front - got it from a local power tool supplier years back when the plastic jobbies on Judy's were even more prone to damage.

26mm is that the massive bolt on the right hand fork crown bit?

Erm No but I've got a massive adjustable spanner.

(edit no it's not wear...I've got in my bag by my desk, new hope spangly bits, headset, an FSA bb and some new foamy grips)

Bikeshop gave me a special on the skewers F&R hopes for £14

I've managed to wreck them by not noticing a score on the stanchion, and my general lack of maintainence ability, so any extra life I can get out of them will be awesome.

Got a pair on order at the bikeshop from mojo.
