RST 381 DH or Kona Project 2 forks?

I'm building up a hack/pub bike suitable for some half decent offroad riding and have a dilemma on which forks to fit to it. As I'm doing it on the cheap, I have a choice of 2 forks lying about in the garage. An old pair of RST 381 DH triple crown suspension forks or a fairly new pair of Kona Project 2 rigid forks.

The frame is a fairly old Hardrock Comp, no disc brake mounts. Any advice or sensible comments welcome.

Purely on the attraction of the bike to thieving scumbags I'd probably fit the Kona Project 2's....  a big set of suspension forks is going to shout " nick me!"

..although I guess it depends on whether you are planning on really getting into off-road stuff proper on it?

Project II's a great forks...they take the twang out of most of the trails at afan too...

The 381s are old, they'll probably be ready for the scrap heap sooner than the Project 2s.

Have RST made anything other than scrap heap ready forks?

Forget to mention that the RST's came from the local tip, and sounds like they need to be returned!

P2. The RSTs were rubbish when new, and they won't have aged well

P2's it is then.
